Faldo receives knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II (AP)

English golfer Nick Faldo is knighted by Britain's Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle, England, Tuesday Nov. 10, 2009. The most successful British golfer in the modern era said he was 'humbled' but 'delighted' after learning of the accolade in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. The 52-year-old becomes a 'Sir' on the back of a career which has seen him win six majors including three British Opens.

Nick Faldo has been knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for a career in which he won six majors and captained Europe's Ryder Cup team. Faldo can call himself "Sir Nick Faldo" following the ceremony at Windsor Castle. He was awarded the honor for his services to the sport.
